WHERE – Taghazout, Morocco

SWELL & WEATHER – We were there over Christmas/NYE and the swell was HUGE for most of our time there. There are plenty of surf spots for different levels both north and south of Taghazout town but there were a few days where it was just too wild and unsurfable for us. We did see jet ski’s towing guys in though. When this kind of swell hits Taghazout, surfers come from far and wide so it gets really busy in town and accommodation is scarce. Weather in December/January was probably not as warm as we had expected it to be. It was sunny most days but the water was pretty cold – definitely need a wetsuit.

GETTING AROUND – You really need a car or van if you are planning to surf as you can’t usually surf straight out in front of town. We road tripped from Marrakech and were seriously lucky to find a rental car with roof racks. Otherwise if you’ve taking lessons or doing a surf camp they will be able to look after everything for you.
